So Close!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Well today was almost the day. That is, the first session of 2008 on the water for me. I say that because the weather forecast looked promising for today. Plus 5 deg C and a SE wind about 17 knots.

Well it didn’t happen for a few reasons. First of all other things in life got in the way of kiting. I had to edit a video project together today to have ready for the next day. I needed the rest of the time after church to do the editing. Also the weather did not work out. The wind was there although it was a little bit more northerly than forecasted. What really killed it was the air temperature - too cold. It only made it up to 3 deg C. Most folks around here are going to wait until Tuesday for +10 deg C and 23 knots or so. Stay tuned!

Spring is Here!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Well after a long and cold and snowy winter, we are waiting for the spring weather to arrive in Ontario. Last winter there was hardly any snow and it wasn’t too cold. Not the case this year. I tried snow kiting a couple of times and it was great to fly the kite and get outside, but as a trip to Cuba in February proved I like kiting on the water! Especially when it is sunny and 29 deg C!

Our March and early April is looking like it is going to be below normal. Normal temps for this time of year are +7 deg C. Tuesday March 25th looks like it might be kiteable - 23 mph South wind and +4 deg. It totally will depend on how much snow falls. Yea that’s right snow. They are calling for 5-10 cm’s.

Anyway Cram and I will be on wind alert tomorrow. See how things work out.
